Imogen Poots, star of “The Father,” will lead Kristen Stewart’s feature film directorial debut, “The Chronology of Water.”
The movie, which was made under Ridley Scott’s production company Scott Free, is a remake of the same-named memoir by Lidia Yuknavitch. The movie’s script was co-written by Stewart and Andy Mingo, who had been attached to helm the movie since 2018.
According to a press release, the “Spencer” actress expressed her happiness at finally bringing the movie to reality. She previously worked with Scott Free on the 2017 short film “Come Swim,” which also served as her writing debut.
“Lidia’s memoir radical honours bodily experience. I feel like it’s absolutely necessary to make that experience physical, and what this impulse means is that it must be a movie.
“Scott Free, who I am so fortunate to have as a colleague and friend, has been working on this project for the past five years. The humbling weight of Lidia’s life and this movie will be carried by Imogen Poots. She can manage it. I feel so fortunate to have her, the actor and director stated.
The upcoming movie, which is based on the novel hailed as “a lyrical voyage through a life redeemed by art,” follows a young woman who discovers her voice via writing and finds redemption in swimming. She goes on to become a successful teacher, mother, and a distinctive modern writer. Along with Michael Pruss, co-writer Mingo will also produce. Executive producer Rebecca Feuer is involved.
