The Hollywood stars have partnered with Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital Partners on the project after the duo wrote the 1997 film Good Will Hunting, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Affleck and Damon intend to utilise their business, called Artists Equity, to encourage “entrepreneurial collaborations” with filmmakers in order to support their “creative vision.”
In a statement, Affleck stated, “Matt and I have always been passionate about the craft of storytelling and our shared desire to support creators in realising their vision, as we have been privileged to accomplish throughout our careers.” “Great collaborations among authors, directors, producers, crew, and performers are what characterise the entertainment industry, and I have discovered during my career that success depends on this. Building a studio with a creator-centric approach that can optimise the production process and share in the financial success of projects is what Artists Equity aims to achieve.
A movie depicting the birth of the Air Jordan brand will be the first endeavour produced under the Artists Equity label. The film will be directed by Affleck, and Damon will star.
Additionally, the actor from The Last Duel is looking forward to working with different directors.
“In the past, a movie’s success was determined by how well it did at the box office. Now that streaming has become more popular, the economy of creating movies has fundamentally shifted. No matter which way the industry develops, Ben and I are aware that the power will always remain in the hands of the artists. By giving existing and upcoming filmmakers a platform to expedite the creation of their material, “Artists Equity empowers these visionaries to take ownership of their creative power.”
