Vidhu The filming for Vinod Chopra’s newest project, 12th Fail, is complete. 12th Fail, an adaption of Anurag Pathak’s self-titled book, was motivated by the true account of IPS Officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. Despite failing his 12th board exams, Manoj managed to forge a career in the public services despite facing several challenges. Partner Shraddha Joshi, who also passed the CSE to work as an IRS officer, helped him along the way.
12th Fail stars Vikrant Massey in the lead. According to the makers, it’s the first film to be shot in Delhi’s Mukherjee Nagar, the hub of UPSC preparations in the national capital. The film was also shot in Chambal, Agra, Mussoorie and Mumbai.
Vikrant Massey remarks, “My experience shooting this picture was wonderful… certainly the finest experience I’ve ever had,” when discussing the shoot. It is one of the most unique stories I have been a part of, and it was also one of the most difficult roles I had to perform. I’m really thrilled. Coming of age for me was working with VVC. He, the performers, the team as a whole, they were all amazing. In the final two months of filming, I have spent 6 to 8 months of my life, therefore I want to emphasise that the entire journey of the role was extremely personal for me.
“I have a sense that this could be my best-performed film to date,” remarked Vidhu Vinod Chopra. I had no clue I would end up liking “12th Fail” this much or that it would end up being one of my finest movies when I started filming it. In addition, the team as a whole was very young. Making a movie on students gave me the opportunity to dominate kids half my age. What more do I desire from life?
The summer 2023 premiere of 12th Fail, which Vidhu Vinod Chopra wrote, produced, and directed, is planned.
