A lot of excellent comments has been given to Taylor Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film, which also won recognition at the MTV Video Music Awards and an American Music Award. The short film, which stars Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien, has earned positive reviews thus far, but it won’t be competing for the coveted golden trophy.

Swift’s All Too Well: The Short Film had significant Oscar buzz, but it did not make the list of contenders for Best Live Action Short Film. That does not, however, exclude the singer from earning her first Oscar. The 15-track shortlist for the Best Original Song Oscar in 2023, which was announced by the Film Academy, has a mix of emerging and seasoned artists, including none other than the “All Too Well” hitmaker herself. The original song “Carolina” from the Olivia Newman-directed mystery-thriller movie Where the Crawdads Sing is one of the Oscar-nominated songs, despite the fact that the singer-debut songwriter’s short film would not have made the cut.

In the movie Where the Crawdads Sing, a young lady who was previously romantically linked with a guy and subsequently accused of his murder tells her narrative of growing up in the marshes of the Deep South. Swift, who co-wrote and produced the soundtrack for the movie, recently said on Instagram that she composed the song especially for the movie because she adored the book with the same name, which served as the inspiration for the movie. The other Oscar nominees for 2023’s Best Original Song are Giveon, The Weeknd, Rihanna, Son Lux, Selena Gomez, Rita Wilson, and Lady Gaga, among others.
