The shieldmaiden of Rohan Eowyn in Peter Jackson’s epic fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, is Miranda Otto’s most well-known role. She was first introduced in the second movie, The Two Towers, and made her final appearance as Eowyn in the third and final movie in the trilogy, Return of the King, which came out in 2003.

In the forthcoming animated movie The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, which is based on JRR Tolkien’s sweeping fantasy novels, Otto is reportedly poised to reprise her role as Eowyn. The War of the Rohirrim, a Japanese anime-inspired film, takes place 183 years before the events of The Two Towers. The series Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society is directed by Kenji Kamiyama, who is also the film’s director. The screenplay for the movie was written by Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou.

The animated figure, who will be describing the event that took place roughly two centuries ago, will have Mirando Otto as its voice. Along with Shaun Dooley, Gaia Wise, Luke Pasqualino, Laurence Ubong Williams, and Succession actor Brian Cox, the television series also stars Gaia Wise and Luke Pasqualino.

Release day for The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim is presently set for April 12, 2024.
