In response to the uproar surrounding the Pathaan dispute, veteran actor Asha Parekh stated that the film’s “smooth release” is essential for the industry’s rehabilitation.

According to Bollywood Hungama, Asha Parekh, who served as the CBFC’s first female chairwoman from 1998 to 2001, is personally opposed to “such bullying” as has been displayed against the movie.

After the song Besharam Rang purportedly offended certain people’s religious sensibilities, Pathaan found himself in hot water. After more than ten edits, the CBFC allegedly gave the movie a U/A classification.

Asha Parekh told the portal, “Let them delete the song Besharam Rang, if that’s what it takes to ensure a smooth release for Pathaan,” underscoring the significance of the movie’s release, particularly following a period of decline for the film industry.

She, however, condemned the criticism and threats that the movie was receiving. “However, let me make it quite clear that I completely reject such bullying. Why should certain individuals decide what is right and wrong for the entire country? If you don’t want to view the movie, skip it. I want to see the movie. Why do you have to stop me? According to a quotation by Parekh.

Famous movies by Asha Parekh include Dil Deke Dekho, Teesri Manzil, Kati Patang, and Caravan. In 2020, she received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinematic honour.
