Priyanka said that gender disparity in India results in unequal chances, particularly for girls, in the video. She also remembered having friends and family who still reside in Lucknow and attending school there when she was little. She continued by saying she was curious about changes that have occurred in the state and city since her time here.
I’m currently at UNICEF in Lucknow, India. This field trip is something I’m definitely looking forward to. I have family and acquaintances in Lucknow, where I attended school for a portion of my formative years. And I’m curious to know how things have changed for women and children in Uttar Pradesh. I want to witness firsthand how innovation and technology are bringing about that change on a (bigger) scale. Girls are the most disadvantaged due to gender inequality in India, which results in unequal chances, according to Priyanka.
The actor also discussed finding methods to stop prejudice and violence against girls in Uttar Pradesh. In the video, Priyanka said, “We are touring different UNICEF partners to see the work being done to stop violence and discrimination against girls. I will hear about the challenges they face in everyday life, and see the solutions on hand, because what is needed is solutions at scale. As I have said often enough, women and girls are the key in building better futures not just for themselves but for their communities.”
The actor had already provided a glimpse inside the UNICEF office after arriving in Lucknow on Sunday. She uploaded a picture taken inside the large structure. On Monday, Priyanka shared a glimpse of a traditional outfit in Lucknow. Along with a clip of a blue garmet, she wrote on Instagram Stories, “When in Lucknow, it has to be the beautiful Chikankari embroidery.”
Both of Priyanka’s parents, late Ashok Chopra and Madhu Chopra, were doctors who served in the Indian army. The actor has previously discussed residing in several tiny villages around the nation and referred to Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, as her homeland. After winning the Miss World 2000 crown at the age of 18, Priyanka forayed into films, making her debut with the Tamil film Thamizhan opposite Vijay, and then acted in her first Hindi, The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy, with Sunny Deol.
Fans will see Priyanka in several projects next, including Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming film Jee Le Zaraa with Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt. She also has the Anthony Russo and Joe Russo-produced television series Citadel. Priyanka will also be seen in the Hollywood film Love Again.
