Free Guy and Stranger Things director and producer Shawn Levy is moving to the Star Wars galaxy.The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the filmmaker is working on a feature film for Lucasfilm, which he may direct.
The completion date for this project is unknown.Levy has a lot on his plate and has agreed to direct Marvel Studios’ upcoming Deadpool 3 movie.The release date for that film, which stars Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, is November 8, 2024.As a producer, he and his 21 Laps are also working on the final Stranger Things episodes. The fifth season is currently in the writing stage and has no set release date.The news of Levy’s involvement in Star Wars first appeared in Deadline.

Toll’s task joins various potential movies underway at Lucasfilm.Taika Waititi is working on directing a feature, and Damon Lindelof, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and the screenwriter are also working on their own projects.Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, is also producing a Star Wars film.Despite the fact that the studio has reserved dates in December 2025 and December 2027 for Star Wars films, Disney has not officially scheduled these projects for release.
Lucasfilm has a full slate of streaming TV projects, with Andor currently streaming and The Acolyte beginning production this week.The Mandalorian’s third season and Ahsoka’s spinoff are also on the way.

Levy released the time-travel family film The Adam Project in March. The main character, played by Reynolds, welded a weapon that was similar to a lightsaber.
At the time, Levy told The Hollywood Reporter, “If there was any doubt about my fanhood of Star Wars and all things a galaxy far, far away, I’ve eliminated that doubt,” quickly noting that the weapon was not technically a lightsaber due to rights issues.
