The English remake of the Israeli film “Longing” stars Diane Kruger and Suzanne Celment, as well as Hollywood veteran Richard Gere.
Gere plays a bachelor who is forced to reflect on his choices in life when he learns that his ex-girlfriend gave birth to his son twenty years ago.
Deadline, an entertainment website, reports that Kruger will play Alice, Gere’s son’s favorite teacher, and Clement will play Rachel, the boy’s mother.
The original film’s author and director, Savi Gabizon, is returning to the helm.
Daniel Bekerman of Scythia Films, Alexander Vinnitski of Current Flow Entertainment, and Neil Mathieson of Arbitrage Pictures will all be in charge of producing “Longing.”
Vinnitski stated in a statement, “We have been incredibly lucky to attract such a stellar and multi-award-winning cast for this very special and beautiful film, clearly a testament to Savi’s screenplay and vision for this English language remake.”
Canada and Israel are officially co-producing the project under a treaty.
In 2017, the original film had its world premieres at TIFF and Venice Film Festival.
