According to the trailer, the film follows Chang, who seems not to have any special talent. After being humiliated once by a peer on the basketball court, he takes up a challenge to dunk. He then gets trained and goes viral on social media.
The film stars Bloom Li, Dexter Darden, Chase Liefeld, Ben Wang and Zoe Renee. According to reports, the project has been in development since 2021. Chang Can Dunk is all set to premiere on Disney+ on March 10. According to Collider, Shao said that the film is his love letter to basketball and how the sport helped him understand family, friendship and the Asian American/immigrant experience.
