Actress Diane McBain, well remembered for her roles as Elvis Presley’s stalker in Spinout and as Daphne Dutton in the hit crime series Surfside 6, has passed away. She was 81.
The actor, who had liver cancer, passed away on Wednesday morning at the Woodland Hills hospital for the motion picture and television industry. McBain is renowned for his important performances in the 1960 films Parrish and Ice Storm with Troy Donahue and Claudette Colbert (1961).
McBain made her name as the delirious Daphne on the 1960–1962 crime drama Surfside 6. In Spinout, she played Diana St. Clair, a writer of books aimed at assisting women in attracting men (1966). Her goddaughter Mary and son Evan are the survivors.
