The Hindi version of the Odia movie Pratikshya, which focuses on the intricacies of a father-son relationship, was unveiled by actor Anupam Kher on Wednesday. To learn more, scroll down.

The director of “Pratikshya,” Anupam Patnaik, has stated that this occasion is significant for them and much more so for the people of Odisha.

Anupam Kher and the cast of the Odia film shared the dais for the announcement, which took place during the programme of the International Film Festival of India.

Anupam Kher said that he will star as the father in the Hindi version of Pratikshya. He offered Patnaik a little signing fee in exchange for the film’s rights.

It is based on a short story by author Gourahari Das and tells the tale of Sanjay, a young man from a middle-class household who is searching for employment with the government just before his father retires. Given the family’s obligations and the fact that Bipin has been given a fatal disease, his father is adamant that he find employment. Sanjay learns about the government’s programme of compassionate appointment, under which a relative is given the position of the dead employee. Sanjay waits impatiently for his father to pass away before realising his unsettling thoughts. It is a movie about families, particularly the complicated bonds between dads and sons.

The actor who portrays Sanjay, Dipanwit Dashamohapatra, discussed the honour of having their movie screened at IFFI and added that this is a significant occasion for him as it is his first leading role.

The filmmaker Anupam Patnaik discussed the Odia film business and stated that there were 160 theatres in Odisha prior to the 1999 storm, 100 after the cyclone, and barely 60 after Covid. He questioned, “How can an industry exist with only 60 theatres?
