It’s been a while since we last heard about the Alien film that Fede Alvarez, who helmed and wrote Evil Dead, is slated to write. The only thing we knew about the impending, highly anticipated film up until this point was that it was in the planning stages, but recent data shows that things are moving much more quickly than anticipated. The next Alien project, which has the working title Alien: Romulus, is already in pre-production, and it already has a location and a start date for filming, according to a recent entry on the website of the Film & Television Industry Alliance.

According to the website, Alien: Romulus will begin main filming on February 6, 2023. This implies that some news will undoubtedly surface over the course of the next few months that might shed further light on this apparent shift in strategy. The website also states that Budapest, Hungary will serve as the series’ primary setting, or at least its first. Thus, during the first week of February, the European city will undoubtedly be the focus of all geek attention.

The fact that Alien: Romulus will begin production so soon also implies that as 2023 approaches, we should hear some casting announcements, and a projected release date will undoubtedly appear on the horizon. At this moment, the only piece of information we have about the project is the addition of Cailee Spaeny (Mare of Easttown) to the cast. The only thing we can be certain of is that the infamous xenomorph will return to threaten humanity once again, but we are also unsure of where this project will fit into the overall Alien saga.
