Karthik Sivakumar is one of the top actors in the Telugu business, and people all over the world love his movies! The famous actor, who regards Mani Ratnam as his guru, most recently appeared in Ponniyan Selvan: Part 1. In a special interview with IMDb, Karthi discussed his career as a filmmaker and unforgettable moments from some of his most well-known works.
The star of Ponniyan Selvan: Part 1 stated of his critically acclaimed movie Kaithi, “Kaithi is without a doubt one of the major films in my career. I had a modest notion, but after hearing it, I realised it was going to be a massive action movie. In order to create Dilli, the primary protagonist, we undertook a tonne of research. Since he ended up saving the officers, I believe his appearance needed to be as straightforward and unassuming as possible. We learned from our research that convicts avoid attention and never talk to someone while looking them in the eyes. They are born between walls, so their only contact with the natural world is the sky.
Karthi said, “I guess he simply had to have sambar rice for all three meals of all 10 years. I remember a viral eating scene of my character Dilli in Kaithi that became a meme fest. And the sequence in which he eventually eats biryani ended up being remembered for this movie. Kaithi is a highly memorable movie, and I’m delighted that’s how it came out. The action in the movie, the choreography, the directing, the music, and the emotional components all contributed to this. I can confirm that a sequel is planned, and ideally production will begin in 2019.
Karthi discussed Ponniyan Selvan and his casting in the movie, “Ponniyan Selvan, the name alone has a significant significance to the Tamil Diaspora. This book has been purchased by readers who connected with the characters. This specific book has been in demand for a very long time, has a sizable following, and is a big seller with yearly exhibits. It has proven to be difficult for great directors to turn it into a film. Eventually, Mr. Mani Ratnam finished the job. I got a call stating that Mani sir would want to meet with me and that he wants me to have a role in this film. He made the invitation to play Vandiyathevan to me as soon as I entered his office. Who’d say?
