The trailer of Disney’s musical fantasy film The Little Mermaid debuted live at the 95th Academy Awards ceremony.
The trailer opens with Ariel rescuing Prince Eric after he falls into the ocean from a shipwreck and washing ashore with him. Then the trailer showcases King Triton, who scolds ariel for her obsession with humans. Then we see Ursula, who offers her the world of humans by granting her legs.
Halle Bailey stars as the central character and is joined by Jude Akuwudike, Daveed Diggs, Javier Bardem, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Simone Ashley, Noma Dumezwani, Russell Balogh, and Jessica Alexander, among others.
Rob Marshall helms The Little Mermaid with a screenplay by Jane Goldman and David Magee. Alan Menken is the composer. Walt Disney Pictures, Marc Platt Productions, Lucamar Productions, and 5000 Broadway Productions are backing the film.
The Little Mermaid will release in theatres on May 26.
