The Bollywood business had one of its happiest days in 2022 when Drishyam 2 was launched in theatres. The movie had a strong start at the box office, after which there was no turning back.
In its second week, Drishyam 2 fared better than the recently released Bhediya. Later, it destroyed An Action Hero, and on Friday, Salaam Venky with Kajol performed far better. The movie continues to dominate in its fourth week, and until Cirkus is released, there isn’t much competition for it in Bollywood.
However, this week will see the release of a major Hollywood film like Avatar: The Way of Water. Excellent advance sales for Avatar 2 indicate that film will have a successful debut in India. Therefore, it will be intriguing to observe whether or if Avatar: The Way of Water ultimately puts an end to the Drishyam 2 box office storm.
Drishyam 2 till now has not collected less than Rs. 1 crore at the box office till date. So, it will be interesting to see if after the release of Avatar: The Way of Water the film will collect in lakhs or it will still continue to be in crores. Let’s wait and watch.
